History

New Braunfels is the only town in the U.S.A. settled by a German Prince and his organization of immigrants in 1845. Over the past century and a half, our community has preserved and protected much of our German culture, to include festivals, food, good humor, our historic business district and neighborhoods.

You can walk in Historic Downtown New Braunfels and enjoy the old town charm since many of the orginal buildings have been restored and are occupied by restaurants, bars, shops & coffee houses. There are also older neighborhoods next to downtown where you can walk and see historic landmark houses and architecture.
