About New Braunfels

The Beauty Spot of Texas

For centuries man has been traveling along the Balcones Fault where two rivers converge into one, known today as New Braunfels. The area offers both natural beauty and man-made recreational attractions, with a year-round schedule of activities and events.Guadalupe River Houses offers unique lodging in our collection of water front or historic district cabins, cottages or houses in New Braunfels and Gruene.

New Braunfels is the only town in the U.S.A. settled by a German Prince and his organization of immigrants in 1845. Over the past century and a half, our community has preserved and protected much of our German culture, to include festivals, food, good humor, our historic business district and neighborhoods.

You can walk in Historic Downtown New Braunfels and enjoy the old town charm since many of the orginal buildings have been restored and are occupied by restaurants, bars, shops & coffee houses. There are also older neighborhoods next to downtown where you can walk and see historic landmark houses and architecture.

Travel to New Braunfels to tube, kayak or canoe the Comal & Guadalupe Rivers. Others come to visit Schlitterbahn, the world-famous water park. Our Stadt Platz is only 2 blocks from the Comal River, Landa Park and Schlitterbahn, sleeps up to 18.

Our Cloud Lane Lodge and Wunder Cove are only 3 miles from downtown New Braunfels & Gruene and is great for boating, skiing & fishing, our Kuehler Cottage, Angler, Bass & Sunfish Houses are located on the water front of Lake Dunlap.

Canyon Lake is approximately 15 miles West of New Braunfels and offers public boat ramps, parks for picnicking & camping.Water craft are available for rent at Canyon Lake Marina. Lake McQueeney is approximately 12 miles East of New Braunfels and also offers great boating, fishing and skiing. Lake Placid is below McQueeney and also offers water recreation.

Music, Great food, shopping: Find it all in the Historic town of Gruene, with the world-famous Gruene Hall, where artists such as George Strait, Willie Nelson, John Travolta, Robert Earl Keen, Lyle Lovett, and Hal Ketchum have performed. Gruene Hall features top name entertainment, especially in the Country and Americana genres 5 days per week.

New Braunfels is emerging as a music town, thanks to Gruene Hall and the local radio station KNBT 92.1 FM, which has been rated the number one Americana station in recent years.
